Any care tips?
for instance--how do you keep your poochie
cool in the summer? with no
airconditioning????? I am going to try
filling 2 litre soda bottles with water
and freezing them and then leave them out
for the dog to snuggle with ---and ill
always have 2 more in the freezer

I live on the Gulf Coast so AC is a
necessity for us, sometimes even run it in
the winter! My dogs stay inside so we
don't really have a problem with keeping
them cool, but the frozen soda bottles
sounds like a good idea.

We usually keep Buster shaved in warmer
weather and we hose him down or let him go
splashing in a kiddie pool. We try to
keep him in the shade. Make sure he has
access to lots of fresh water to drink.

I live in an apartment too and we could
use tips for keeping our dogs cool also.
today was the hottest day of the year so
far and Tank threw up from the heat. I am
going to try that wotter bottle thing you
suggested Dyan, and I usually keep ice
cubes in thewater dish to keep it as cold
as possible.

What is considered the hottest day of the
year in Michigan? Just wondering....
This past weekend, here in SC, it was in
the mid 90's-with almost 100% humidity.
We live in an apartment too. (2 bedroom)
We just keep the A/C running all day. The
house is nice and cool when I come home
and keeping the thermostat set at 68
degrees only runs me about $70/month for
electric bill.

Umm, it was only like 75 or 80 here i
think, which is about allthe warmer it
should get all summer I hope. The humidity
was really high here too though, which
made it feel worse.
Elecricity is included in our rent so
once we put the air conditioner in we are
just going to run that all the time, but
Tank stays in my room alot of the time and
I have to keep my door closed becuase my
cat and the others fight really bad and
she is terrified of anything other than
humans. I dont have ac in my room and it
gets a little warm in there...

What about using those medical ice packs?
They make cooling blankets too, they are
generally sold around first aid supplies.
It's like those things you crush that heat
up, only they get cold.
On another note, OMG, I WISH it were 75-80
here!!! I feel like I'm melting when I go
outside and it isn't even full-blown
summer yet! Thank GOD I'm not pregnant
this summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a box fan on front porch and on
back deck. I keep these running on low,
blowing toward the "cats bed". They are
sooo spoiled. I also keep ice cibes in
their fresh water everyday. I keep their
food dishes close to the fans (shaded).
This also keeps flies/mosquitos from
around their dishes They usually craw
under the deck.its already 98 here in
Georgia! YOWZA! When I had llhasa's I had
a kiddie pool for them. I also found
keeping my dogs on tile/lineoleum like in
the kitchen with a fan on low
helped.....seemed a lot cooler than
carpet.
