Hey Girls,
I've gotten my period 2 weeks early. I'm 27 years old and have been on the pill for 5 years or so (or more). At times when I am under stress I have gotten my period early. But this time I'm not under any stress, and don't see any reason why I should have received it early. First I got it yesterday (brownish) and today i am spotting red and can feel it in my lower stomach (like as if i was having a period).

Any suggestions based on experience would be great.

Thanks

It sounds like breakthrough bleeding. Are you taking your pill on time every day? If you are late or miss a pill, chances of spotting are very high. Are you on any kind of antibiotic? This will sometimes make the pill less effective and cause spotting as well. If it continues, you should go to your doctor to talk about what is going on and maybe switching brands.

Hello, I have been on this birth control for about 4 months and this month I got my period 8 days early. I let it run it's course thinking that it was break-through bleeding but now that it is over do I continue to take my placebo pills or do I start a new pack right away?

same experience
i've had the same thing happen to me... i have been on birth control for the past 4 years, and switched from alesse to yaz about 7 months ago. this month, though, i got my period a week and a half early. i don't think i'm under any stress that is out of the ordinary - in other words, i have been under much greater stress in my life and have not experienced early periods. i DID, however, take one pill almost 13 hours late about a week ago... perhaps that is also contributing to the early period.

Two weeks Early
I am not supposed to get my period for another two weeks but tonight I have starting cramping and spotting - I have been on the pill for almost three years and this is the first time I am this early. Although I have missed a few days ... I don't remember getting it this early the previous times I have missed...

Early and short
To the response above...im the same way. Ive been on the pill for the past 3 years and I came a week and half early this month, and last month, altho it was on time, i only had it for a day, and the same this month. 2 months ago it was super light, like spotting, and this past month it was heavy for a day then gone. Although I have missed a few days as well, ive missed b4 in the past years and this never happened. Not sure what it could be...who knows, possible even pregnancy. Idk, i guess im just going to have to wait it out. Im not under any extra stress than normal...haha 3 year old and looking for work...but ive always had drama going on

So did you all take the pills regularly during the early bleeding or did you take the placebos or start a new pack? Cause that is what i am confused about.

I have been wondering the same thing. I have been on the pill for about 4 years now, and i have ALWAYS been able to predict the day sometimes even down to the HOUR when I will get my period..because it's ALWAYS been the same!! Last month it came 2 weeks early, while I was still only on my 2nd week of the pill (usually it comes the 4th week when I don't take anything). Now this month it came early again, but the same week. I'm hoping it is nothing serious, I have my yearly Physical scheduled next month so I'll ask my doctor more then. The only reason I can think of right now is that I started a new job in February and it has been a BIG adjustment for me. I wasn't used to working so much and it was fairly stressful. Could it be that my body is just adjusting? Should it go back to normal???

Hi, I have been havign the same thing. I didnt think i was under a lot of stress but ive been having a lot of anxiety our of no where. I went and saw the doctor bc my period was two weeks early and I was worried from my anxiety. First it was brown spotting (like old blood) then today it was like my regulare period. And Im not suppose to get my period for another 5 days. My doctor told me it is probably the anxiety I have been having and not to worry. I hope that helps.... She said give it a month or so and I if it continues I may need to see a gyno for a new kind of pill. I am 27 and have been on the pill since i was 18.

I've been on the pill for probably about two years. Lately I have been stressed and I have missed some of the pills but I make up for it the next day. My period will try to come early while I am taking the pill. I will take the pills still and I'll be spotting for a few days. A couple days ago I started my period but now it's barely here but I"m getting the cramps still..I know I"m not pregnant but has this happened to any of you?

Help?
I Have been using try-cyclen, and started having brown spotting about two weeks befor my period is due. It stopped, and a few days later I started getting red spotting. I have lately been getting cramps and a flow thats alot heavier than my previous spotting, but MUCH lighter and less frequent than my regular period, which I shouldnt get for another full week. I started this pack of pills 2 days late, and have missed a pill or two since. (I know, but life gets busy) Is this likely just because I've havent been taking my pills regularily, or could I be pregnant?

To the post above... it is highly unlikely that you are pregnant so do not worry... i have had the same problem and it was only my hormones playing up... dont worry about it...

to the post above.
In my experiance, it is common to be a day or two off after missing a pill. If you miss it all together, you should concider consulting a doctor. And remember, with most birth controls, if you miss one day, your encouraged to tak two the next. Make sure to read over the info panflet that comes with your bc, or consult a doctor first though.

missed bc pill
My doctor has always told me and I have been on the pill for over 10 years. Anyway. I have always been told that its not a big deal to miss one pill during the month especially if it is in the middle of the month. If you have been on the pills for over a month. Because it is built up in your system. This is the same reason that it takes some women a month or more to get pregnant after going off bc. So one missed pill is no reason to run to the doctor. Also for most women it dose not matter when you take the pill as long as you take it everyday. It is recommend to take ut at the same time everyday more to get in the habit of taking it. But as long as you take it everyday your fine. This is the same reason that if you miss one and take it the next day along with the one for that day your fine and don't need to use a backup bc. Ppl get carried away with how sensitive the pill is or rather how sensitive your body is to it.

I always start on a Tuesday and it always ends on Friday and its been the same for the past three years. And now I started my period again, two weeks early. Anyone know whats up?

It's very normal to have a strange period here or there, for no reason at all. But with that being said, I started my period two weeks early, and WAS pregnant. The pill has a VERY high chance of preventing pregnancy when used properly, but it's not 100%. Some people seem to have less luck with it than others. Dont worry about it for now, just be sure to stay in tune with your body. If you start experiancing other symptoms, purchase an hpt or see a doctor, to be sure.

to the message above
Hey, So you had your period 2 weeks early on the pill and were pregnant? i recently had a period 2 weeks early on the pill (i have had breakthrough bleeding before, however i still had a period during my off week)... now, I've missed my period (no bleeding / spotting / etc. on my off week) and am worried I may be pregnant, as I have been having some of the symptoms (fatigue, full/heavy breasts, headaches). I am broke until Friday so I can't afford to get a HPT. I am going to check in with Kaiser to see if they will possibly provide a free one through my insurance.

How to stop it after?
If you get your period early (I got mine three days early) should I stop taking the next three hormone pills, and start the new pack in a week? And if I just skipped the placebo pills completely (went straight into a next pack) wil my period stop? I have not missed any pills, been on BC for 10 years, and have a really important exam in 10 days - and I don't know whether to stop the pill and start again in a week or to keep taking the next pack.
