Q: Period week early
asked by: DoctorQuestion on November 7th, 2009
I got my period a week early, and that's never happened. I always have this fear that I'm pregnant. Does this mean that my fear is true?

Hello and welcome to eHealth Forum!

No, an early period does not indicate pregnancy. In pregnancy the periods are always missed or a woman can continue to have lighter periods but on the same date as due. The periods are never early in pregnancy. Sometimes periods can be early or late by a week or so without any cause.

If you are always scared of becoming pregnant go on contraceptive pills. Discuss which is best you’re your gynecologist and start them. Hope this helps. Take care!
