Hi. I'm asking for a friend who doesn't have access to internet.

Her period started on Dec.4 and lasted nearly a week (till Dec.10-11). Yesterday, Dec.19, she started to bleed again, but the flow is 'slower' than at her usual period. She is a virgin. What could the cause be?

Thanks

It's very likely a hormonal imbalence. When I spoke to a doctor at my practice on the phone she said that to see whats going on you need a blood test and a pelvic exam. She also said that it's a classic sign of hormonal imbalnce when your cycle goes like that.
There are tablets that you can take for things like
this.
I had to have a urine test to check for any sexualy transmitted deseses but since your friend is a definate virgin that test won't be requiered

When not caused by pregnancy, menstrual irregularities are usually a sign of a larger condition or problem. There are many conditions that can cause menstrual irregularities. Your friend should see a gynecologist if her cycle continues to be irregular. Oligomenorrhea – or infrequent menstrual periods (having a period only now and then) can indicate other problems.

Would just seeing your GP with this sort of problem be ok?

Yes. You can see a GP, who might have answers for you or who might recommend that you see a gynecologist.

With that in depends where you live because where I live (in England) if you need to see any sort of specialist you need to your GP first and it's up to them weather they want to refur you or not

Well, to update, my friend will be having an ultrasound to check if she has anything like polyps, firboids, endomentriosis, or ovarian cysts, which can cause irregular periods.
Thanks

No, just a regular period. On the contrary, her second one, which came about 10 days after her usual/normal one, was lighter and 'slower,' as she described it. But it wasn't a matter of a day, it lasted as a usual period.

Im asking because the doctor told me that if you have polyps or fibrodes in your womb you have very heavey periods that soak your clothes and last for at least 10 days

Period after 1 week of period
It's happening to me. My finished had ended a week ago, and then I started bleeding again yesterday, but it's slower. I only bleed whenever I feel like doing doing number 2 (solid disposal) because I feel contraction. The first time I had irregular period was when I've stopped using birth control pills. Do I have to see a doctor for this?

help
I have had a lot of problems with my cycle. I was searching for some answer but was brought here. these situations are similar to mine but I'm not sure if they actually could apply to me. I am 19 years old. I started out havin a hymenectomy when I was 12,my periods were not able to come out because of my hymen blocking it. and when I was in my sophomore year my boyfriend gave me a std. I found out about it a few months later. I went to the dr got meds but it didn't work. I may have forgotten some days and screw myself in getting cured. so I went to the hospital with severe pain with a tampon insertion on one my periods. the doctors were glad I came in when I did. I had pelvic inflammatory, and very close to losing some of my reproducing functions. now it's been four years and I haven't had a period for a year until two weeks ago. it lasted a week and a half. just had two or three day of no bleeding and now it's back. used a tampon and it was the same pain I felt when I had pelvic inflammatory. I'm not using tampons for now. but I'm very concerned. I have a doctors appointment, but should I just go to a gyno? also, the house I'm living in is very stressful. I was staying at my mothers house when I started. my mom thinks there's a good link in there, I also agree. please anyone if you have any input I would love to hear it. I'm not on birth control but I was a year ago. that's when I stopped. I was on the shot that fakes your body into being pregnant. thanks ahead of time!

I don't think it's anything to worry about. The pill probably set off a crazy hormonal imbalance that should regulate. I suggest you check with your Gynaecologist for a pill that suits your body the best.
