Sabrina, It is highly unlikely that it was menstruation on March 27. It takes much longer for your uterus lining to prepare for implantation than 2 days. It also needs the hormones released by the follicle after ovulation to start the process. So ovulation, preperation and shedding is impossible in 2 days.

It was probably just withdrawal bleeding because the hormones were removed. The same as a woman on birth control pills get when she gets to the inactive pills.

Best of luck TTC!!

I felt I had to advise that situations are more possible than impossible. The removal was a slight tug, got the light spotting, next day got my period(4/27/12). Not to mention I had intercourse ttc like the day before the removal and before that since I read from the Mirena site that could lead to pregnancy. Anything that helps, but we must understand not two bodies functionality are preset alike. I should be prego sooner than later Yay!

I got pregnant immediately after removal the first time I had my mirena iud removed if that helps. (Within 5 days of removal). Just had it removed again on the 22 of November and 2 days later started bleeding what seems to be a normal period not sure if it is or not but my doc said I could have a regular period as soon as my body was ready for it. You can get pregnant immediately just depends on how thick the lining is as to whether you will be able to carry or have a miscarriage. Bottom line you can get pregnant anytime as soon as iud is gone.

Everyones differnt
Thats not true...I just got off the phone with my Dr. because of the bleeding 2 days after removal on April 1st & he said he can be my first cycle that plenty of womans bodies pick right back up where they left off...& I know plenty of woamn who have actually gotten prego weeks after remival & had healthy pregnancies & babies.

Two days is quite different from weeks. When your body picks up where it left off, it does not suspend the laws of nature. Ovulation and menstruation will not suddenly happen in a two day span.

Withdrawal bleeding is a normal phenomina when the hormones are taken away.

Do your research
You ovulate while on the IUD. Do your research before telling people what's possible vs. impossible.

Actually read the description for the Mirena I know for a fact because I have it and it prevents you from getting pregnant 3 different ways 1. By preventing your body from releasing any eggs 2. Thin the lining of the uterus ( so even if you did ovulate it would be hard for the egg to burrow into the lining) and 3. Make the mucus more acidic to the point were sperm cannot servive long enough to fertilize an egg now obviously birth control is not full proof so there are always those 1in whatever that do become pregnant but I just repeated what MY DOCTOR told me as well as the packet from my doctor on Mirena.......birth control wouldnt be close to being 99% effective if you ovulated on it

Mirena removal
When taking mirena ovulation does not stop. So it is likely she could have her period as she may have ovulated just before having the mirena removed. Her cycle very Lilly could have returned that quickly

MIrena Hell
Well Im confused as hell. I had my mirena for nearly year and half, I continued to get light periods on it each month..every 28 to 29 days. I had my regular period on March 5 had mirena removed March 12. Started a heavy "period" like bleeding with clots on March 14th until March 18..haven''''t had a period since. On weekend of March 26th, boobs became very swollen, warm, nipples constantly erect and a whole lot of cramping, also increased CM. Now its the 7th of April all symptoms has went away and no AF. Tool HPT on this past Saturday but a bit BFN. Dont know what to think. Ive always been regular on or off bc. Help!!! Husband and I are TTC...

When did my cycle start?
Last period began July 2nd had the Mirena IUD removed the 6th had heavy withdrawal bleeding two days after. I was thinking that was my period. I am now wondering when my cycle started on the 2nd or the 8th. I'm not sure if I could be ovulating in the next few days or in a week. I have read that sperm can live for 5 days and had unprotected sex with my hubby thinking my period had just begun.

I have been reading a lot of different post by people getting the IUD's removed and what to expect afterwards. There has been many post about the possibility of twins being higher right after the IUD. You might want to do a little bit more research, but that is just the readying i have done today. Hope that helps:) and Good luck

I had my AF on August 15 until August 22 (it's not usually that long. Typically 4-6 days max) I had my IUD taken out on August 23. It is now September 11 and I have not stopped bleeding. It is very light...and very annoying. I started the Nuvaring on August 23 since the my Gyn and I both thought I was off. Any suggestions or thoughts?? My husband and I both are ready to say good-bye to AF...until next month!

I glad to read someone having mirena in for a good period of time. I had mirena in for 5 years then had it replaced and just got it taken out after 2 and a half years...7 and a half years straight with mirena.
My hubby and I are TTC, Feb. 16th will be a month since I had it removed. I'm excited and really want to get pregnant quickly but scared I'm going to be disappointed.
After I had it taken out I had a heavy flow that day...nothing the next two days...then heavy flow on the third day. Nothing again until Jan 26th...on and off flow for a day and a half then nothing. The only time I had any type flow while on mirena was for the first few months after that every now and then I might of had a little spotting but that was it. Before, I always had my period on time every 28 to 30 days and it lasted 7 days with 5 being really heavy and the other two light.

Mirena IUD and menstural period
I have had my IUD (Mirena) removed on September 30,2010 and i have not yet to recieve my menstural period and it is now 11/17/2010,i have asked my OB/GYN when i should start having them and she sd right away. Now when i was on the IUD my periods were VERY irregular. there were times i would have my period twice in one month a wk apart and they would last for 1-2wks and they were heavy. i had my IUD inserted after i had my third child and that was on 10/19/2008 so i've had the IUD for 2yrs. The whole reason i had it removed was because i could not stand the side effects it gave me (i.e headaches that felt like migrains, abdominal cramps that felt like i was having contractions, and then feeling nauseas and sick all the time). soon after i had it removed my OB/GYN sd that i might be diagnosed with PCOS (but tests came back negative). and then because me and my husband are TTC! we have been trying for the past couple of months since i've had the IUD removed and i've taken three pregnancy tests where one was "INVALID" so i took another one a wk and a half after that and was negative and then i just took another pregnancy test abt a wk ago and still negative. i dont know what else to do. can someone pls help me!!!!

I had the mirena put in after my son was born. It took us almost 2 years to concieve him. I spotting in the begining then never had a period while I had it. I got it removed when we wanted to try to conceive again after 2 years of having it (no periods). I spotted a little after removal and then almost 4 weeks later got a period. yeah!! During this time my husband and I did a couple raw food detoxes and ate really really healthy. (bestofrawfoods.com) I had it removed aug. 23,2010. Today (11-28-10)I took 2 tests and they were both positive!! woah woah. we are shocked it happened so fast after the mirena and not having periods. It took us so long to conceive the first time we just cannot believe it. It must have been the detox oh and we haven't ate fast food since 2009. Hope this one is sticky. Smile good luck and stay healthy and positive and it will happen....ps I did have 2 periods since removal in aug. rainbow

Its possible
My mirena came out on its own around March 11, 2011. I bled for like 3 days after it fell out. And then started my actual period around the 20th of March. That was my last period. I found out I was pregnant April 24! So yes its very possible to get pregnant right after the mirena is removed! Even though this wasnt planned we are excited, but now that Im doing some research Im seeing all these women having twins who get pregnant right after having there mirena removed... guess we will see! Anyone know?
