Hello,

I have had my period off and on for about 3 weeks. At first, it was more brown, old blood for about 2 weeks. The past week new blood was added in, but it was very, very light. Starting today is has picked up a bit but it still lighter than normal. For the past two days I've had bad stabbing pains in my abdomin above my belly button. I've always had irregular periods (sometimes going 3-5 months without getting a period) with sever cramps and heavy blood with some large clots. I'm not pregnant, 24, slightly overweight. What could be wrong, if anything?

you may have something called dysfunctional uterine bleeding or irregular bleeding.
my periods are always normal then they started to last for weeks. i found out i have a cyst on my ovary.
my periods started to become heavy with large blood clots. my doctor said heavy bleeding comes with large blood clots. with my irregular periods, not ovulating and the lining of my uterus was thickening, so i had a hysteroscopy (camera in uterus) d&c (scrap the lining of the uterus).
birth control pill regulated my periods. you have to talk to you doctor to see whats wrong with you.
