Period is 14 days late, my blood pregnancy test was negative

Hello all,
I am new here and I really need some help. I have not have a period in 14 days and I took a blood drawn pregnancy test done Thursday and when I called Friday for the results they were negative. I was taking birth control pills but I missed some and I was waiting for them to start again and then I will take the new packet. I really hope that I am pregnant though, I really want another addition to my family. I have not had a baby in 9 years so when I was 5 days late I was excited, but now I am upset and confused. Please provide any advice that you may have.
