For the past three months my period has come earlier each month by days (about 5) and they are shorter in duration. January my period came on teh 2nd then again on the 30th. My period usually lasts 6 days now it is lasting about 4 to 5. The blood usually starts to turn brownish on the 3rd which usually does not happen towards later on in the period of the week of having it. My knee swelled up this month. What could that be a sign. Anything I should worry about. I got my annual pap smear in Nov 2010 and everything was normal. Please advise

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum.
Change in period cycle and bleeding pattern could be due to many factors varying from hormonal changes to infections, from endometrial or uterine problems to perimenopause, from stress to lifestyle/diet changes etc. The exact cause for this change can be determined by examination and further investigations (vaginal smear, PAP test, hormonal check and ultrasound scan) done by your gynecologist/healthcare provider. Do not delay in seeking medical help.
Take care.
