Hi,

I'm a 27-year-old white male, and have been experiencing the following symptoms for about two years: almost constantly during the day (some days are better than others), I feel a "pressure" around my perineum and anus. This isn't usually accompanied by any pain (sometimes I feel a dull pain there when I cough or sneeze), and the size of my perineum seems to remain normal. However, whenever I have an erection, my perineum bulges out and becomes hard to the touch. I first began to notice the symptoms after straining a little bit too much perhaps while masturbating.

I've been doing online research about my symptoms recently and haven't found anything definite. It seems like it could be a prostate issue, but everything I've read makes it seem like I'm most likely too young to be experiencing this, plus I don't really experience any of the urinary symptoms associated with prostate conditions (I don't have any pain or difficulty urinating and don't have to go often unless I drink ~a gallon or more of water throughout the day). It also seems like I may have a hernia because my symptoms came on so suddenly and were possibly caused by strain, but can you get a hernia in the perineal area?

I saw a doctor when I first started experiencing symptoms, and he did a rectal exam and concluded that I had a hemorrhoid. Could that be causing perineal symptoms? A lot of the pressure I experience does feel like it's in my anus as well (and the pressure goes away temporarily if I have a bowel movement or pass gas)... I would like to go back to see a doctor, but I don't currently have health insurance. This problem isn't really causing me pain, but it is uncomfortable and messing with my quality of life. If anyone has any suggestions of what I can do, or if you've experienced similar problems, please share!
