After x-rays, CT scan, blood work, blah blah blah, I've been diagnosed with 3 stones. All three are still in my kidney because the 20mm keeps bouncing in and out of the ureter opening.

I'm waiting for a surgery date. Has anybody undergone percutaneous nephrolithotomy? How long did the surgery take? How long were you in hospital?

Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

My surgery date is Monday. The doctor says it'll be a day surgery. I'm surprised, as what I have read online, it usually involves at least an overnight stay.

Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy
I have been diagnosed with a staghorn calculi stone which is over 3 centimeters in diameter, larger than a golf ball. My surgery will take place in about 4 weeks. I am waiting for the surgery scheduler to call me. I was hoping to find someone that has gone through this surgery, and also to see if anyone had a second surgery, after being re-xrayed while still inpatient. I hope they can remove all and a second surgery is not needed. I'm on Septra for 4 weeks until surgery due to UTIs recurring. According to my surgeon, the size this is, it could have began growing a year ago. I'm hoping to find out after the surgery how to prevent this type of stone, as it has nothing to do with diet I am told. Dr. said I will be in overnight, and if second surgery is not needed, two days at the most, if so, 4-5 days.
