I'm 17 and I've been having some problems with my penis, on Sunday morning my penis began to 'fill up' as if to become erect, but it was still it's flaccid size, it just ballooned up.

This only lasted a few seconds and went away but it did it a few times, and started lasting longer. There where also a couple of small purple patches that appeared that looked like bruises, I ended up going to A&E to have it checked because it was very uncomfterble. I had it checked over but the doctor couldn't seem to see what the problem was, but he wasn't too concerned and told me to just go to my doctors about it.

So today I've been to the doctors and he was unable to work out what the problem was either, but has just did a blood test and said it might just fix itself on it's own.

It's been better today, it's felt quite tender and aching a lot, and it seems like it's slightly swollen, but I'm unable to get an erection.

The only thing I can think of is that I did injur my penis a while ago, back in august last year I'd knocked it and I'd had problems where sometimes it would hurt slightly when I had an erection if I pulled my forskin too much (I'm unable to pull my forskin right back because it's too tight) but this has gradually got better.

I also remember about a week ago I woke up because I think I'd hit my penis while turning over in bed, I didn't think much of it but since then I'd had the odd 'semi' erection that was very hard while in bed which was a bit unusual for me.

Thought I'd post it here since I'm worrying about it a lot and hope someone will have an idea about what could be wrong.

I'd suggest going to another doctor for a second opinion. But first, is your current doctor aware of the previous injury? That might be really useful to know in treating you. Have you had any pain urinating as well? Thats something to mention to him too.

Perhaps if you describe the previous injury and everything else you stated here (how since then it hurts to get an erection, how easily it hurts, etc), it'll make him want to check more into it rather than dismissing it. If you do tell him all those things and he still wants to dismiss it, I suggest asking him to refer you to someone else for a second opinion bc you feel its not something to dismiss, has been going on for year and is still causing problems. It may have improved somewhat but the fact that it has persisted for so long could be signs of something more serious. I don't know what type of injury it was or how serious it was, which is why thats something useful to tell your doctor. There are many things that could have been injured internally in the penis (no matter whether it was erect or flacid at the time of injury) so if he still insists its nothing, another option is to insist it'd be check for the reasons stated above. You can't be denied treatment if you insist on it and is relevant to a current condition you are experiencing. Overall, I really, really suggest being persistent in finding out what it is. No matter how much you have to bug him to do so...

Although, you shouldn't have to bug your doctor in the first place to look more into something you think may be serious. Food for thought.

Well I actually went to A&E twice, the first time the doctor didn't seem to understand too well. I went for a second time on the same day as it was still going and it was even more uncomfterble. I told the second doctor at A&E about it also but he didn't seem to know, but didn't seem to think it was too serious and just told me to go to my GP about it.

I've had my blood done and have an appointment on friday to see him again.

It seems to be getting a little better than it was, I've had a bit of a pain, feels like the bruise hurting, but it isn't swelling up at all anymore as far as I've noticed. I've also noticed I had a slightly more 'normal' erection when I woke up today, it wasn't it's full size, but seemed better.

Obviously I'm still going to see my doctor and I'm going to try and make sure it gets seen to, but after seeing 3 different doctors about it I'm hoping they'd have noticed if it was something serious by now.
