I posted a question yesterday.

Well, I was prescribed a single fluconazole pill for my yeast infection.
I don't know what to do about my boyfriend, though, as he does not have health insurance. Besides, we don't know if he has it or not. I have heard that it's like ping pong, though, and the infection can be tossed back and forth.

Is there any over the counter treatment that would cure him if he did have it?
And, does the medication have to go INTO the hole of the penis to cure him?

Probiotics are available at a natural food store. They are the normal bacterial flora that is found in the GI tract. Taking probiotic capsules is a very effective way to treat and prevent yeast infections. If your bf has any yeast overgrowth this would be one way to treat it. No, the medication for a man does not go into the penis. A man would be given an oral medication to treat a yeast infection. Probiotics do not require a visit to the doctor or a prescription.

Im not sure about the male medications for yeast infections, but your right, it can be spread back and forth the each other. When one of you know that you have an yeast infection, the best thing to do is use a condom. It should stop the spreading.

Hope I was some help!

I don't think there is a test or any treatments for men- when men get yeast infections, it's usually not internal, it's external (like athlete's foot but in the genital region) and is treated with topical creams. There are external creams for women to treat yeast infections- they usually come in the package with the pill thing (to use on the vulva to ease itching) but they contain the same medicine as the pill, just a lower concentration.

If you got that, he could use it on the genital region. It's the same concentration, if I remember correctly, as the seven day treatments- so the idea is if he used it for seven days you would both be clear.

However, any time I've gotten a yeast infection, I've just waited a week or so while I was treating myself. His infection should clear up pretty easily, and probably without any treatment. If he's getting symptoms such as painful peeing or anything like that, he should get checked out.

Oh, and probiotics are a great idea for both of you if it's a problem!
