we've been told that our baby's head is 3/5 down and has 1/5 to go before hes engaged. i keep getting a feeling that someone is running a knife down inside me and that my pelvis is ripping apart is this normal and where his head is moving further down or should i be worried?

It's normal. It's the pressure his head is putting on your cervix. As uncomfortable as it feels, it's actually a very good thing! That pressure is helping (or will help) to dilate and efface your cervix.
