Hi,
I am writing this post to see if any light
can be shed on this for me. I have seen
doctors but I have had no answer - they
have referred me for an ultrasound (few
month wait!!) on my kidney to see what
caused the infection, but as you read on,
I'm not sure if the kidney is the problem
here. I have an appointment to talk this
through with a doctor next week but feel I
am going out my mind not knowing the
possibilities of what is going on.
At the beginning of April, so almost 3
months ago, I took a few hot flushes in
the day time, and then that night had a
bit of a fever and rigors and ended up
quite unwell, fast forward about 6 weeks
and I learn I had a urine infection,
Pseudomonas, whick I took cipro for. I had
cloudy urine but never have I had the
needing to pee or burning when I pee.
I took the cipro for a week. However,
although the test came back as no
infection after these anti-biotics (and
this was double checked), I was surprised
as I was still extremely fatigued and
there was blood on the toilet paper and
had awful pain around my lower back and
pelvis area and groin. I have basically
been in bed most of the past 3 months.
I am putting in another urine sample
tomorrow 'just to see' but I don't have
cloudy urine and don't need to pee alot
and don't have pain when I pee.
These are my symptoms now -
Extreme pain in my belly area mostly, but
this moves to either side of my pelvis,
and sometimes my side, and sometimes lower
back. When I have the lower back pain I
feel a vibrating in my lower back and legs
and groin at times. The pain is crampy and
like a bad ache with some stabbing pains,
and also across my stomach it can feel
tight. It feels like really really bad
period pain, even when it's not my period.
I have had days where I've just felt
tender as opposed to really bad pain, but
mostly it's really bad. I feel naseaus
when the pain is around my abdomen.
I am also continueing to take night sweats
and also some hot flushes and some chills
throughout the day and evening. I don't
seem to have any fever though.
I am fatigued and find it really hard to
concentrate even on watching TV or
following a conversation. I feel
depressed, and bad short term memory.
My periods have been a little more
irregular than normal, but only by about 5
days (i'm usually about 28 days regular)
and the last period was lighter than
normal but not by much.
I am 32 years old and not taking any
medication.
I am wondering if this is to do with
hormones/periods/womans bits and not a
blockage in the kidney as the doc first
thought (she was only going on all
symptoms being urine infection), or if
urine infection was an effect of something
else going on.
I hope you can shed a little light as I am
going out of my mind a bit now, here in
the UK things can take a very long time to
get to the bottom of as there aren't
always the resources.
Thank you.
