Pediatricians for newborn Posted: 03-20-08 11:56am
I only have 8 weeks till my due date and I
am trying to figure out what I need to do
to get a Pediatrician set up for our son.
This is our first child and I am not sure
if I need to meet the Pediatrician before
I go into the hospital or do I just call
and say that I need to be set up as a new
patient. My OB gave me a list of all the
local Pediatricians in my area, but how do
you pick one out of 500? My husband was
born and raised here so I think we might
use the same practice that he went to when
he was little. We have had an ongoing
battle trying to decide if we should go to
a Pediatrician or just a family doctor.
Both my husband and I have different
family doctors and I feel that it would be
best for our baby to see someone that
specializes in babies. If you have any
comment for me it would be helpful.
Thanks
Sarah

Dear Sarah030885,
When my children are born they are
'equipt' with pediatrician as it is in a
maternity hospital, after that it's
entirely up to me for the first one year
(bare in mind that I got no one to ask
except my husband) I sent my children to a
pediatrician as they are more verse in
pediatric (no offence to anyone) there I
can ask the pediatirican anything that I
need to know about my baby besides having
all the important jabs that the baby need
I hope this helps - Hart74
