I was diagnosed with pcos at age 16, I am now 26 and for years I had irregular cycles until age 18 when they became limited to one or two per year until around age 24 they stopped altogether. As of June of this past year, I weighed in at 231 lbs., constant dizziness, no menstruation, hirutism and the whole nine yards, I decided to do something about it. I started a low gi and low carb diet and to date I weight 140 lbs. About 5 days after starting my diet, my cycle resumed and had came successfully every single month until in November it was about a week late. I assumed that because it was late, I should start counting from the day it began to know when to expect this one. Now it is January 2nd and still no cycle. I did cheat a little bit on Christmas but nothing huge. Ever since I have continued to stick to my diet, but still no period. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for over 4 yrs and still nothing (obviously I wasn't ovulating due to no periods) but I was hoping that because of the restored menses perhaps this had changed. My basal temperature charting and monitoring of my cm has been pretting erratic but I am pretty sure that I have not been ovulating. However, having a period every month I figured it is possible that I have at one point or another. My main three questions are these: Is it possible to have a cycle every month without ovulating? Do I have to take prescription drugs to bring on ovulation if I am not naturally? Has my quick weight loss still not helped my fertility with pcos?
