I am nineteen and have had pcos since I was 14, i have been on birth control since then. my periods are finally pretty regular for the past five years, i used to get cysts pretty regularly but they too have subsided almost completely i have always wanted to have a baby at a young age but the more i read about pcos the more the reality hits me that i might not ever get pregnant at all, let alone as a teen, are there any teens/ early twenty's girls that have pcos that have gotten pregnant at this young age, or are there any older woman that got pregnant at that age with pcos?

Getting pregnant with pcos
Hi, I'm Erica. I"m twenty years old and I have had pcos pretty much since the time when I started my periods when I was twelve. I was started on at least three different bc pills and one patch but due to severe side effects I couldn't use them. When I was 18 my doctor prescribed me metformin to help with my cysts which were very painful and also to help with my weight as I was and still am pre-diabetic because pcos messes with your absorption of insulin.
Metformin helped me so much when I was taking it. I plan to get back on it again asap. I had better moods, I didn't hurt as bad when I had pms, I lost weight and whereas I'd been told I would have trouble conceiving; I got pregnant and I had a baby girl in April of '08 when I was 19. I had been on the medication for about 6 months but had only been with my then-boyfriend for 2 months. My doctor had told me when he put me on it, that this medication has a high occurrence of pregnancy in women and to use something or it would happen but that information just kinda slipped out of my head. But it didn't matter 'cause the man I got with wanted a baby sometime soon anyway lol.
Bottom line is, if you really want a baby and are prepared for what becoming a mom means, then ask your doctor about metformin because while you may get pregnant on your own, the chances are pretty slim. They were for me at least.(I'd previously been in a relationship for 2 1/2 years, sexually active for 2 of those years and we were on the lazy side when it came to bc except for condoms)if that gives you an idea of how much those pills worked for me.
Hope this helps you in some way.
