OK overweight, constantly tired. Have been working with new doctor since September to fix excessive bleeding problem. Have been on Metaphormin and lybriel for 2 months and found slight relief.

The history goes like this. In January 2007 I decided to see a doctor as I had not had a cycle for over 2 years. I got the whole shebang complete with the "cheese grater" (forget what it is called) where they took a tissue sample. The results came back abnormal and I had been bleeding since they took the sample. They did an ultra sound found a mass, told me I had a Molar pregnancy.

So they did a DNC prescribed metphormin and BC, I bleed for 3 months and decieded to stop the bc (historically not worked well for me) I stopped bleeding and did not cycle for 8 months then I cycled mostly normal for 3 months with increasing cramping and pain in the lower abdominal and back areas. In May of 2008 I started bleeding HEAVY and bleed and bleed I saw a dr in the end of june she put me on DEPO which slowed the bleeding for about 2 weeks ( bleeding level like show light pink very lite still very painful). During this time We moved and I lost my medical insurance. In the 3rd week of august the bleeding was so bad and the cramps excruciating I ended up in the ER. They gave me a few pain killers and sent me home after a pregancy test and UTI test. A week and a half later I was back in the er I was going through more that 4 super pads an hour and could not stop crying or stand straight ( crying from pain and exhaustion). Again pain killers and this time super high doses of a bc ( 3 pills 3 times a day for 2 days then progressively less). The BC made the pain worse I made it 4 days before ending back up in the ER this time the whole works. Preg test, UTI test, Iron levels, external and internal ultra sound massive doses of morphine and delauded so that they could even do the pelvic. They said only that they found some fluid on the ovary? and gave me a massive dose of IV antibiotics and the 4 or 5 day take home pack. With in 24 hours I was pain free for the first time in months and about 2 days later I stopped bleeding ( was still taking the high dose BC from 2nd visit). The ER told me in uncertain terms that I had to see the GYNO that week for follow up. So I did, he seems very detailed and actually took the time to get my history and Call another state to get the medical information from the DNC. He was very upset that I had told him that I had had a Molar pregancy, I know it is serious but that is what I had been told, because when he got ahold of my old doctor they had nothing on record about having a molar pregancy.

He Then preformed another pregnancy test and blood work and pelvic and the Cheese grated biopsy thing. Prescribed Lybreil and Metphormin and said if the bleeding does not stop in 2 months to come back other wise come back in 3. When I brought up the pain he was reluctant to do or provied anything to help out I pressed the issue ( i almost never press Doc's especially about pain issues) and he prescribed 20 Lorocete ( hydrocodone ?). I asked about the possibility of having kids he put me off. I asked about a possible hysterectomy to end the problems and he flat told me no doctor would do that for me.

How can I get a straight answer about the ability to conceive?

Is it unreasonable to have a Dr preform what ever necessary procedures to stop the pain and bleeding?

Why is a hysterectomy automatically not an option for a married SANE woman with my history? I Am really offended by this stance that my doctor has taken! My God I am talking about my body! javascript:emoticon('protest')

The have a baby part, I know this is a very sticky area and most doctors do not want to make the call I have known for years that I would have a very difficult time conceiving and am mostly resigned to not having children. My husband and I simply want an educated guesstimate about this. If it is unlikely then lets work on improving my quality of life. Who in their right mind wants to bleed for the first 7 months of their marriage? I have been working on the things I can work on, I have lost 20 pounds in the last 3 months, I have quit smoking (after almost 16 years)

Check out a condition called PCOS before doing a hysterctomy
I just had a hysterectomy in June, for severe pain and bleeding, continual cyst on ovaries. After 11 years and about the 8th doctor we decided to do the hysto. It helped with some of the pain. However 2 months post op the old familiar back and side pain were back. Started bleeding after sex, got silver nitrate twice. I was told on the 2nd visit that my hormones were in normal range. Asked him why I was getting acne, excesive hair growth, and etc. I had asked him about PCOS he did test and it shows that I could have it. Now in the process of doing low bc and hopefully this will take care of the pain. There is another medicine that they use for this hopefully this is what he tries. You will never get rid of PCOS no matter what they can only control it since it messes with your hormones. You might want to ask your doctor about this. First do research on it. If you keyword pcos the full name will come up. Good luck, and again no a hysterectomy does not get rid of all the pain. It is nice not to flood, but that is about it. They took my uterus, and cervis left my ovaries because they looked good.
