I just recently been diagnose with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome)and my doctor ordered me to use birth control to help control the symptoms. Due, to the PCOS, i have not had my period for the pass two months and there is no way that i am pregnant because i am not sexually active. My doctor told me to wait until my period comes on to start the birth control, but there is no telling when i will start my period again. Can i just start anytime of the month or do i have to wait until my period? What effects will the birth control have on me if i do start it without being on my period? And ultimately, will birth control help the effects of PCOS? For an example, excessive facial hair growth.

I also have PCOS, and was placed on the pill to control symptoms. Since my periods are so irregular she told me to just choose a Sunday (since the pill pack starts on Sunday) and begin taking them. Just at the end of my first pack, so not sure how well it's working yet. Good luck!
