I have been diagnosed with PC (PSA 6.5 Biopsy 2 small areas Gleason 6). I have to decide on treatment. I am leaning toward radiation but have seen a lot of good press about the Robotic Surgery. Can the daVinci remove the prostate without damaging the nerves? What is your experience with recovery on both types of treatment?

The best treatment option for prostate cancer continues to be the subject of intense debate (including the option of not treating some older men with slow-growing cancer at all). Both radiation therapy and nerve-sparing robotic prostatectomy are associated with significant incidences of impotence and urinary incontinence, and both treatments are considered "standard of care" therapy for this disease. As I have mentioned, world class experts on prostate cancer continue to disagree over which treatment option is the best, and so I cannot really endorse one treatment over another.

Best of luck to you, and I hope that you will make a rapid and complete recovery.
