probably a week. because with the pill it says the first 7 days if you start and arnt on your period, you arnt protected but after those 7 days you are protected. so i think it might be the same with the patch. but ive never read anything on the patch since i take the pill. im sure there is an instruction brochure in your package that lets you know.
