I had a scare on Friday and have just arrived in Canada as a permanent resident from the UK, so your advice would be very much appreciated. I had this reaction before but never so bad. On Friday I went for a pasta meal with a friend, which was lovely but within 20 mins I was starting to feel a bowel reaction. On this stupid night I had limited menu choice so went for a pasta dish, it was an Italian menu.

We had 2 kids in the car and about a 20 minute drive home, but I was starting to swell plus a fever and need for a washroom.. I tried to wait but the my face was getting very red, I was sweating and I felt that I was going to faint. I ask my friend to stop the car so that I could get some fresh air. I still felt that I was going to faint so I hid in a bush to release my bowels. ( I was so ashamed but I didn't want to faint in front of her children.

I felt a little better after, however I was still feverish that I had to leave the window open in the car. I got home and within 5 -10 mins I had 2 further visits to the washroom. My husband came 2 hours later when I was in bed and said that I looked terrible and had a fever. Yesterday I was still very week and very swollen. Today I feel so much better but still very swollen all over my body. The swelling has gone down but it is not great.

I have been tested for coeliac in the UK and it came back negative? so was this a wheat reaction.

Who do I need to see about food allergies in Calgary Canada?

Pasta - the devils food
Hi - i too have a pasta sensitivity and can empathise - and sympathise with you. It's so bad I haven't touched the stuff for over 15 years. If i did i end up looking (and feeling) 6 months pregnant and am very very ill.

Not so bad with bread (as long as i don't eat more than about 4 slices each week) but try to stay off that too. And beer has the nastiest effects!

Perhaps there was some food poisoning in there for you too?
