I have a history of addiction with opioid addiction. I got off of them a year ago this past January. I have been having severe pain in both knees. I have had surgery on the left knee in July and December 2010, requiring me to start taking norco again. I am having surgery on the right knee April 29th and after I recover from that arthroscopic surgery I will have to have the left knee replaced, then the right one. My question: Is there another type of pain medication that is strong enough to stop the pain that is not an opioid? I do not want to go down the addiction road again. Thank you in advance.
