I started my period 6 days ago, after waiting for it for 50 days. Pregnancy tests were all negative. After 5 days, my bleeding stopped. I then developped a sharp needle like throb in my left side (not crippling, but uncomfortable, like ovulating) - which I presumed was my left ovary. After about 12 hours of pain, I passed a 'blood clot'. Afterwards, the pain subsided throughout the day, and 24 hours later I am now pain and blood free. Any ideas what happened?

It kind of sounds like it could have been a cyst to me. The pains seems to fit with a cyst. I am thinking I have the same problem. I know Endometriomas (endometrial cysts) are blood filled, also know as chocolate cysts because of the brownish red blood, or old blood. I am not sure if you can pass these type of cysts. I have heard they can cause internal bleeding if they burst, other then that I am not sure. I really hope things are going ok for you now & you have since had no re-occurances.
