hi i have had a paraumbilical hernia repaired 3 times now the last being only 3 wks ago the last time they found a double hernia and put a mesh in although that is what they told me they would do the second time. Although my scar has healed nicely i now have a painful lump which i have been told is a heamotoma i would like to know how common this is please

Hernia Answer A16266
Fluid collections (seromas) and blood clots (hematomas) are rather common after this type of surgery. In most cases, seromas and hematomas will resolve on their own within a couple of months following surgery.
