Hi,
Im new to this site and I need a little reassuring. I had an IUD put in about 2 1/2 months ago, 7 weeks after my daughter was born. I just got off my period about 4-5 days ago and I can now feel my IUD, i know you arent suppose to feel it and that i should call the doc but heres. the thing, a friend told me that when you feel you IUD you are pregnant, i have three kids and im only 24, i dont need or want anymore kids, and because of medical probs i couldnt get a tubal ligation, doc said this is the next best thing. i dont have any signs/symptoms of being pregnant but im the type of person who still gets nervous when someone tells me these things. please advise.

OH no...

IF you feel the IUD in your cervix, it sometimes means that the actual IUD has expelled, NOT that you are pregnant!!

I am 26, and I work in the medical field.

I DID get pregnant with my last IUD, but simply had an abortion, and then had another IUD inserted.

IF you happened to get pregnant, which is VERY VERY RARE, you could have an abortion if you TRULY do not want any more children.

ALTHOUGH I am not much older than you, I have a full college education, and work in womens health care.

IUD's are something that I love to talk to women about, because they are so effective.

MY Getting pregnant on an IUD was a rarity, and I have not been pregnant since.

iud
Thank you so much. My nerves have calmed down alot. lol. I was also told by a nurse from the clinic that i might have an inverted cervix which causes me to be able to feel it. I honestly dont know what could have caused it to expell like that, although i have been doing vigorous exercising. It's my first time using this type of birth control, i felt this was my safest route because i got pregnant with my daughter and my middle son while I was on the pill and i didnt want that to happen again. Thanks so much for the information, I honestly am very happy with the IUD and think it might just be something I did to make it expell. I would definitley recommend them to everyone around me they are great.

IUD
Just so all of you know - it is not so rare to get pregnant with an IUD. I just found out im pregnant with the Paragard, and have since learned of so many cases like this from my doctors and from reading online. It is a chance of 1 in 100 women, which means so many doctors get to see so many of them. It is very scary to be going through this, and i would never get an IUD ever again. I'm just saying, get informed first before you decide to get one. Read all you can, and talk to people. My husband was conceived with one as well, and people are coming out of the woodwork with this.
