Q: Panic disorders and anxiety
asked by: DoctorQuestion on July 4th, 2008
I am trying to find a solution to these conditions. I am worried that it might be something like MS, diabetes, permanent vertigo, low vitamin D levels. Or is it possible that it is just anxiety...I have never had anxiety attacks before. I have never felt this way before. During the last time I felt all of these symptoms, I literally thought I was going to die and I wanted to call an ambulance. Any suggestions on what this might be? Does it sound like any of the above illnesses mentioned? Where should I go from here - what kind of testing?

According to your explanation of the symptoms you could be experiencing panic disorder. Panic disorder is indicated by dramatic symptoms that last for a while and then disappear. If you had certain of the disorders you mentioned, the symptoms wouldn’t last that short a time . It is likely that anxiety causes your panic attacks.

If you intend to undertake certain medical investigations you would probably need a lot of tests (neurological, cardiological, ENT, eyes…) and the results will be probably negative.
