HI
I am not sure if I am having panic attacks or not. I start feeling agitated and jumpy. My breathing becomes rapid and I can't seem to get it under control. My throat gets tight and I feel as if there is a weight on my chest. I just want to curl up on the floor and disappear. I feel down most of the time at the moment, and been having some disturbing thoughts. Then these .. . whatever they are... started. I don't want to say anything to my family as I live away from them and they would worry too much.
Am I having panic attacks? If not what is wrong with me? If so, how can I stop them? (The method I have resorted to at the moment really isn't healthy but it does stop my from completely freaking out. I just can't keep this up.)
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Please.

Panic Attacks Possible
Hi there. It does sound like what you are experiencing is panic attacks b/c I had them for years in my 20's. I'm 39 now and have been through therapy and used meds to get them under control. Since I am not a doctor I would suggest you go to the doctor and have all other things ruled out. There are some heart abnormalities that cause the same type symptoms. Now the disturbing thoughts you mentioned may be OCD related if you are having thoughts you can't shake. Thoughts that aren't at all like you so to speak. Is that what you're experiencing? Trust me, you can be fixed. I promise! I went to a psychiatrist who prescribed Klonopin and Prozac, and I was eventually able to get off both. Please seek help from a doctor first to rule out other things. I know the symptoms are horrible, but you can come out on the other side.
