I am a 20 year old petite female and starting in about April I have been having what I suspect are panic attacks. My doctor says they are related to a minor case of hypoglycemia which is not uncommon in women.

This is how they go, I am hungry, probably missed a meal or am very late for a meal. At first it seemed that some form of mental stress triggered it (the first case I thought a large amount of irreplaceable items had gone missing). However recently I have been doing exterior painting and have noticed that working in the sun, or an adrenaline rush from a ladder slipping seem to trigger them as well.

I feel like my heart beat becomes irregular, breathing becomes difficult and I feel light headed and "out of touch" with my body.

Generally at this point I sit down and take something to eat. I start feeling better after that, but I still don't feel well for several days.

Any advice on how to deal with these? I am worried that this is going to happen while I am up on a 34 foot extension ladder or driving.

Thanks

Hey,

I am 40 and was hospitalized for these symptoms.... turned out my potassium was low which caused irregular heartbeat, breathing difficulty, etc. (hypokalemia)

Direct sunlight I avoid because it fatigued me quite easily. Hell I was tired all the time.

After a repeat hospital visit a year later, I am now seeing a specialist because I am burning through potassium. I have a low blood potassium, slightly high / normal 140/90 blood pressure and high normal aldosterone and no renin at all.

Also suddenly cannot drink or consume any milk product without getting a sharp headache above my right ear.

Might want to get checked.
