Heres the deal, approximately 6 months ago
I began feeling abnormal. I started
getting symptoms such as problems
concentrating, pain/irritability in my
head (mostly back or front of head),
random heavy breathing, and feelings like
im gonna pass-out for no reason. The
concentration symptom randomly shows up,
but is expected now when i do certain
things like read, watch a movie, sit in a
class, or play a video game. The
pain/irritability seems like its there
most of time along with the heavier
breathing. The feeling of passing out is
not all the time, but I've noticed it to
be present while doing things like
speaking in front of a group of people or
even driving my car, I feel like I am
going to lose control of the car and go
off the road or something. I have found a
couple of things to be helpful in those
types of situations such as eating
sunflower seeds, and pinching
myself....yes pinching myself to get
myself to concentrate on that instead of
the feeling of passing out or losing
control. When I first really started to
notice it 6 months ago, I went to the ER
and they diagnosed me with a panic attack.
I havent been to the doctor since because
I am in the military and am scared of
being medically discharged or something.
I have been living with this ever since
with no medication or anything and I am
starting to think something is really
wrong with me. Please advise. Thank you.

I agree with the doctor that this sounds
like a panic disorder. Therapy can work to
help you with the panic and heavy
breathing. I think a medication for awhile
may be a good idea to get the panic under
control while you work with a therapist.
Stress from the military can be the cause
although many people never know the reason
for panic attacks. I hope this helps.

I've had similar symptoms, and it is
scary. Sometimes I have to keep up an
internal monolgue that I'm okay just to
get through, and wait for the anxiety to
pass.
I don't really have much advice for you,
but I can empathise, and there is
something wrong with you, it's anxiety and
panic.
It's as real as a broken leg, because it
leaves you feeling weak,helpless and
vulnerable.
But you're not alone.
There's lots of us having these feelings
out there.

Cbt is great for panic anxiety and
depression but remember you have to do the
exercises everyday so it does take a lot
of work and self discipline. I still do
the tea form exercise that I learned in
the book by sam obitz daily and the
thought processes that eliminate panic and
anxiety do become ingrained over time. You
can get rid of them as I am living proof
of that

I would definitely get a medical checkup-
you will want to make sure there aren't
any neurological/medical issues. Then talk
to a psych so you can get help!

Never hurts to rule out all physical
causes. I'm not a doctor but it does seem
like anxiety but getting checked out can
only help.
