About 10 days ago I almost choked on a
piece of pizza and since then every time I
eat my throat feels tight and I start to
panic that food is going to get stuck in
my throat or oesophagus, then I feel
dizzy, can't breathe and feel like I am
going to collapse. Sometimes I feel as if
something is stuck half way down but it
isn't. I can eat soup and cereal and drink
things OK but solid food causes the tight
throat and panic feeling and the feeling
gets worse as the day goes on. I wake up
feeling OK but get to work and it all
starts. On top of this I have caught a bug
from someone at work which has killed my
appetite anyway. So I am trying to force
myself to eat cos I hate being ill (one of
my panics is being ill and never getting
better) and when I do eat I get the tight
throat thing and then I panic that I will
never be able to eat again because I have
some horrible sickness and I'm going to
die. Can anyone reassure me? I hate
feeling this way, I have lost interest in
eveything I like doing and just worry all
the time that I am sick.

Hi Harli,
welcome to e-health, i think stress may
work related? and some anxiety can give
you symptoms like you have posted. i think
you should try to relax. maybe when you
eat you can chew a bit more and drink
fluids while eating. also the tight throat
could just be a symptom of the virus you
caught so i wouldn't worry about it to
much. you should see your doctor and
explain to him/her the situation to get a
proper explanation.
