My father had a whipple 4/08 for panceatic head ca. He has done very well since. He recieved chemo and radiation 6/08-11/08. Pet/Ct in 12/08 neg. 5/09 experienced fevers and had another Pet,which was questionable for activity in the surgical bed. The oncolgist treated him again with GTX empiracally. He did well.Off and On my father had high fevers, then 8 months ago the fevers were daily. He was diagnosed with blind loop syndrome and having chronic cholangitis. He had to have a surgical revision of his afferent loop and then a second surgery for a new Gatro J anastamosis. This process was 59 days long. In the middle of the ordeal he developed partial portal vein clot, biopsies concluded to be caused by pancreatitis. Now my question is 2 months after his recovery for surgery his ca19-9 has elevated, and I was wondering if the pancreatitis can elvated this level? Can portal vein thrombosis cause his Pet to be abnormal? I believe he has chronic pacreatitis and these are the cause.
