Hi,
about 2 weeks ago i developed a horrible pain in the center of my chest. The best way to describe it would be a knot like crushing sensation. I was also short of breath, like i could only take half breaths no matter how hard i tried. Sometimes the pain was ignorable and only a discomfort. I had it for about 5 days, it would come and go and seemed to get worse at night. I didnt go to the doctors, i started taking aspirin hoping it was nothing serious and the pain/discomfort gradually went away.

Lately ive been having palpitations out of nowhere, my heartrate idle is normally around 60-80 then all of a sudden it will shoot up to 120 and takes forever to calm back down.

Im still breathless and now have a wheeze when i exhale. My chest feels tight and this may sound strange but when i look at my chest, even through my shirt, i can see my heart contracting and pumping just under my left nipple. My heart also feels "swollen" when i place my hand over my chest, its like my hearts poking against my chest with each beat - this is constant even with no palpitations. When i wake up in the morning i can feel my heart banging quite mildly against my chest.

The slightest activity makes my heart race, even standing upright and moving to another room in my house.

Im 18 this month, 5ft 8 male, 144 pounds i dont smoke or drink or take any drugs. I suffer from asthma but its very mild and my medication doesnt stop the shortness of breath/wheezing.

I had an EKG and a chest x-ray 2 months ago with different symptoms, i also had some bloodwork checking for hyperthroidism. All were normal but im just really worried that something was missed or something has developed in these past 2 months. I have been under quite a lot of stress because of this and have had panic attacks, im housebound and cant continue with my normal life. I do feel like my anxiety isnt causing these problems but rather making them worse.

Thanks for your time and i hope you can help.
Take care.

Panic attack can cause your symptoms but before blaming the panic disorder (or any other mental condition) for the symptoms all possible heart and lung conditions with simmilar symptoms should be excluded first.

You can request 24-hours holter test. Holter test is a kind of ECG-test that monitors heart rate for 24 hours and serves to notice any heart rhythm disorder that can't be noticed with the standard ECG-test. Echo-cardiography can be also requested if necessary.
Lung tests include ascultation, X-ray and functional tests.

You can consult some internist about your problem.
