Q: Palpitations causing anxiety

I am under a great deal of stress and have been for a year now. It has been caused by almost losing my husband twice. The first time from a sudden illness which caused him to have his bowel rupture. He recovered from that and was feeling good again when he was involved in a major car accident just 6 months later. He still has problems from the accident and has to have another surgery as one of his fractured bones hasn't healed.
I have cared for him through out all of these horrendous times and now I am suffering from anxiety attacks and palpitations. I've been to the ER several times because of them and told that what they are are PVC's preventricular contractions and they aren't dangerous. To me they only cause more anxiety as I can feel my heart skip a beat and the next beat is stronger. I am scared and I want them to stop! My doctor has prescribed a beta blocker, Inderal but I wonder if it is making the palpitations worse. I'm afraid to take the medication. What can I do? I can't live like this? My husband needs me but I am getting worn out. Thanks for any advice.
