i have a painless twisting/turning feeling under my right rib cage when i cough. what could this be?

Hi,
Welcome to the ehealthforum. I am glad to help you out.

Normally, persistent cough can give rise to a spasm of the muscles of the abdomen and intercostal muscles.

However, this spasm is usually associated with pain. As you don't have any pain, I presume there shouldn't be a cause of worry.

Hence, I don't think you need to worry unless and until you have any other symptoms like any bowels symptoms (constipation or diarrhea) or any vomiting/loss of appetite. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
