Hi - Last Sunday (six days ago) I experienced vaginal itching and a light pain while urinating. I have had the painful urination for almost a month now, but dismissed it (I have had a lot of UTI's and proceeded to treat the painful urination as such.) When the painful urination did not cease, I went to the medical center on my campus and was tested for a UTI. The results came back negative, two days after my symptoms subsided. Fast forward to six days ago, and my outer vagina, anus, and inner vagina start to itch. It wasn't horrible, I could easily deal, but I didn't want it to get any worse. I read up on a lot of possible conditions online, and finally figured that I had a yeast infection. I bougth the Monistat-3 suppositories to treat the yeast infection and began using them that night, on Sunday. I also bought AZO yeast prevention tablets and have been taking two in the morning and two at night since Sunday, in hopes that they will help as well.
After I began to use the treatment, my symptoms became unbearable. The itching was constant, the painful urination brought tears to my eyes, and I felt horrible. Nevertheless, I finished the whole 3 day treatment, and began to feel a little better by Wednesday. By Friday night, I felt great, and thought that I was cured. By boyfriend and I had sex last night (Friday night) and tried to have sex this morning, to no avail. This afternoon the pain had returned tenfold and the itching had returned as well. The most peculiar thing though, is that while we were having sex this morning, the outer part of my vagina really hurt. Everytime he would pull out or thrust in, it felt like he was ripping me apart. Now, it feels as though I have a cut on the outside of my vagina (which hurts very much while I urinate.) Is it possible that something has been torn or irritated, or is this simply the yeast infection still hanging on. I'm fairly sure that it is still the yeast infection, because I am still itchy, but other's ideas would be appreciated. Also note, that I am on birth control pills and that we do not use condoms (maybe insufficient lubrication was a problem??)
My boyfriend and I are in a committed monogomous relationship, so STD's aren't of any concern. Any advice would be appreciated. Mainly, my concerns are the yeast infection (that hasn't seemed to fully go away yet) and the painful intercouse. I understand that yeast infections can take up to seven days to fully clear up and that having sex probably didn't help my situation. I don't plan on having sex in the near future, but if my symptoms don't clear up by Monday, I plan on going to the health clinic.
Thank you!!!
