Hi I had a cone biopsy in November 2006, and all went well. I came back for my check up when required and when my doctor did my smear it was incredably painful. The smear was clear and I've went again for a regular check up in Feb 08, the smear was again very painful I was also having irregular periods. My doctor took me in to have an investigation of the womb and put in a coil at the same time. Again all was clear. My husband and I have now decided to try for a baby, I went to the family planning clinic to have another smear and have my coil removed... it was the most painful experience I can remember. As soon as the doctor touched my cervix I felt sick and the pain unbearable. Even the doctor was concerned as I was screaming in the room. Now I am now wondering if there is a problem or if we should even bother trying for a baby as the pain was so bad it has put me off, but worse still I don't ever want to go and get another smear and I know I need to.... can anyone tell me if they have had a similar experience and how it was solved (if at all?). I have searched the net looking but to no avail ... I will go to my doctor but I just want to know if anybody has had the same experience.

Nope. But if your cervix is painful to touch, it seems to be an indication of a pretty big problem. Please let us know how your appointment goes. I'm interested to know what the cause is...and what the recommended course of treatment is as well.

Good luck!
