Painful Skin Tag Remedy Now

I have a large skin tag on my cheek. It has a tiny stalk and is painful every time I brush past it when I wash my face or comb my hair. I put a band aid on it to reduce the chances that I will inadvertently rip it off. I already saw my GP and she said she couldn't freeze it off without leaving a scar. I don't have time to wait for the doctor shuffle. I need this thing off now. I have read I can apply nail polish several times a day and let it fall off on it's own. Is that likely to leave a scar if I am careful not to pull on it at all? Also these are never cancerous right, because it did appear to grow quite a bit but I don't know over what time period?
