Q: Painful HIDA scan

I went for a HIDA scan on Friday and it caused me a great deal of pain. It was so painful it was as bad as if not worse than child birth. Is that normal? If something was wrong wouldn't the techs have said something? I don't see my doc untill Thursday and I am very nervous about the pain that I felt.
