Q: Painful bowel movements and pain
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 29th, 2009
I have been having painful bowel movements for over a year now. It feels like the pain is occurrs when the bowel pass through the sphincter; also I've notice that everyonce in a while I will see a light pink color mixed in with my stool.I have lower back pain some times, and sometimes when I have to go I feel pressure and a dull pain on the bone below my lower back. Should I be worried? Is that light pink color blood?

Because I cannot examine you, it is not possible for me to tell you, for certain, that the pink coloration is blood, but I suspect that it is (rectal bleeding can result from both benign and malignant causes). You should see your primary physician and have him/her arrange for you to undergo a full GI work-up by a Gastroenterologist.
