Q: Pain with bowel movements

At times I have a bowel movements w/pain followed immediately with severe weakness, tingling in my limbs, cold sweats and sometimes vomitting. I had an ultrasound and was told I had a redundant sigmoid colon. Is this causing obstruction? Should I have corrective surgery? I am fearful of surgery but do not want an obstruction to cause sepsis or something equally as serious. Please advise me.
