Hello. I am 21 years old and have been having this odd pain at the very bottom of my rib cage on the left side. It is always bothersome to me, but I have learned to deal with it. About 1.5-2 years ago I was having problems digesting food and was becoming sick to my stomach when I ate "full" meals. I went back and forth between doctors, had tests done, and it turned out that it was just Gastritis and minor acid reflux. This is something that I have also learned to deal with and I am now more aware of the foods I should avoid (ex: fried foods).
I have talked to my doctors about the pain under the rib cage and they don't really have any answers, so I have been searching it online.
Basically...it hurts when any pressure is put on the area. I won't even let doctor's feel around too much because it is that irritating. The location is at that very last rib (I think it is called the floating rib?) and it almost feels as if if is underneath.
I would really like to know if anyone has ever heard of this or has experienced this before?
Thank you for any and all help!

Left flank pain
Hello,
I am also a 21 year old female, and I am having the same problem. It has been an issue for 3-4 years now...getting worse in the last 2. My doctors have no idea what to do next.... I have had multiple CTs, bloods tests, etc, and they can't find a thing. I am scheduled for an endoscopy this coming tuesday. This pain is taking over my life, and I need help to figure out what is wrong!

I am sorry to hear that you are in pain. Good luck with your endoscopy. I had one of those a couple of years ago and all that they could tell me was that I had inflammation, Gastritis, etc... I hope that you find some answers soon. You should reply back here after you get your results. Perhaps they can give you some actual answers. Feel better and hang in there!

pain around bottom left rib
I have read all of these replies and hope this helps.
I have had all these tests too accept the endoscopy. One person explains that it may be a torn muscle!Which he may be right. It can happen. It takes awile for it to heal, it's very tender on the surface and can be agrivated later on down the line more easily.Or on the other hand an endoscopy is the only other way to find out if the antiinflamatory doesn't work. I'm not a doctor but it could be a tear in the upper region of the diaphram. It can happen and if after you eat you have sneezing or a hard time breathing at night get an endoscopy.

pain under left lower rib and down a little from there.
I could have wrote the same thing as Meliasa1187. Has anyone found anything regarding the pain in the upper left side? I've had tests as well and don't see any reason to see another doctor since they don't find anything and don't want to look further. I currently manage my digetive problems with probiotics and HCL tablets, but the pain in the left keeps coming back.

pain in left rib
i am in the same amount of pain. it started aafter an incisional hernia in 2005, noticed a tenderness under my left rib when bending or moving a certain way. went to my internests who did the hernia surgery and he scheduled me for an abdominal ultra sound, nothing showed, so he said to just learn to "live with" the discomfort, pain due to my history of scar tissue(adhesions), i had bladder lift surgery in early 2004 which led to the hernia, ct w/ barium is in the am. hope this finds out something,i feel ur pain!

pain under left rib cage
My pain has become much less as the inflamation in my stomach went away. I attribute my recovery to light meals, probiotics, and HCL tablets for when my food didn't digest well. The doctors don't know much about solutions. It's in our hands.
