I had a total abdominal hysterectomy 4 weeks ago today. I am experiencing excruciting abdominal pain when urinating and also having a bowel movement. The pain is always towards the end, as though my bladder/bowel are 'deflating'. Is this normal?

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
The symptoms that you describe are not normal and you should consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist for further evaluation to look for underlying cause (especially rule out chances of pelvic adhesions, endometriosis, scar tissue, infective causes, etc). Treatment as appropriate (based on examination findings and investigation results) would be started to help you control the symptoms. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Drink plenty of water. Take adequate rest.
Take care.

Thank you, however nature took control and I was admitted to hospital last week as an emergency when my wound opened and I experienced a massive discharge! I was discharged from hospital yesterday with a course of antibiotics and the nurse is visiting me daily to dress the wound. I no longer experience this pain and have lost 1/2 stone! Thank goodness for these forums!
