I have this pain on the right side of my ribcage about 3 to 4 inches below the armpit. It started after I had this cough that lasted almost a month, sometimes the cough was worse that you might call it a cough attack (continuous cough) with deep breathing in between and feels like I am havin GERD at the same time. When it was getting better and coughing was no longer difficult, am now experiencing this pain on my right side of the ribcage below the armpit, like a dull pain. It gets worse when cough, breathe deep, get up or twist around in bed or put a pressure on it. And if I have to pinpoint the exact location, it's like in the 4th rib from the armpit if I put pressure on it. This has been constant for two weeks now.

Hello,

I have the exact same problem! I still am coughing and the pain is getting worse day by day. I had an x-ray two days ago and have to see the doctor again tomorrow, so i'm not sure what is happening. I also have a build up of phlegm and get a blocked nose in the morning and at night time.

I can see you wrote this last year, do you still have the problem? Did you get it fixed? Please let me know, it would be very helpful!

Hi Scubbasteve88

I called up 13HEALTH 4 days ago, and the nurse on the line said it was inflammation between my lung and lining on my ribcage because of all the coughing. I went back to the doctor two days ago and he gave me some high strength pain killers and cough medicine.

I definitely don't cough as much as I did, but I still have the phlegm problem. I think I will go see an Ear Nose & Throat specialist because I believe it is all coming from a post-nasal drip.

It has been two days since I have taken the pain killers, and the pain in my chest is slowly going away.
