Hey everyone,
I am sixteen and was VERY leery to start birth control. My boyfriend really wanted me to give it a shot, so I agreed. We went to planned parenthood I got checked out fine and I was put on Lutera. The first two days went great. I was so happy. The third pill, I became really hysterical bawling for a few hours but I just am trying to tell myself that this is all the hormones running their course and I'll need time to adjust. This morning I woke up with a terrible pain right above my pubic bone. I am finding it hard to walk. It's a mix between a burning and aching dull pain, that doesn't go away even when I am resting. It travels from one hip bone to the other and there is a similar pain in my lower back.
I don't know what it could be, does anyone have any ideas before I stop the BC for a silly reason.

My second question is, I was really dumb and even though my doctor said give the BC three weeks before unprotected sex, my boyfriend ejaculated in me after two days on it. Now, we are in a sticky situation where I might want to stop. If I do, can I get pregnant? If I don't stop, can I still get pregnant since we didnt follow the three week rule?
Thank you very much,
Em.

You should abstinent sex (or use condom) at least 7 days after you had started Lutera. You waited only 2 days so there is a chance to become pregnant even if you don't stop to take the pills. If your next expected period get late you can do a pregnancy test.
If the pain becomes unbearable and you think is caused by the pills you can quit the pills.

Thank you very much for replying,
My boyfriend wants me to ask one more question because after I told him this he is quite concerned.
We'd like to know if you keep taking the birth control pills, Lutera, would that prevent the possible pregnancy from happening? Should I stop taking the pills until my period or what should be my period?
Thank you,
Em

If you're pregnant, then you're pregnant and birth control pills won't change that fact. If you decide to stop taking your pills, remember that you're not protected then and need another form or birth control.

How long ago did you have sex? If it was within three days ago then you can still take plan b in a last attempt to prevent pregnancy.

If fertilization happened any further taking of birth control pills won't help you to prevent pregnancy. Birth control pills are made to prevent fertilization by preventing spermatozoid penetration trough the cervical mucus and/or by preventing ovulation (egg-cell release. If fertilization happened, pregnancy can be prevented only with emergency contraception ("plan B") but only if used in the first 72 hour after the risky sexual intercourse. Emergency contraception are in fact pills that contain much higher doses of estrogen hormones than the regular birth control pills. Emergency contraception causes rubbing of the endometrium and withdrawal bleeding thus prevents the implantation of the fertilized egg-cell. Efficiency of the emergency contraception is 70%.
You can continue taking the pills until you get your period. If your period doesn't come you can do a pregnancy test.
