It is normal to experience breast pain, tenderness, and heaviness one or two weeks before menstruating.
This is related to hormonal variations during menstrual period, and, occurs in both breasts, but it is, usually, more one-sided, and more in the lateral aspect where there is more breast tissue (the breast tissue swells and becomes more lumpy and tender).
