I am a 31 year old male, I am 5'-8" tall and 137 pounds was in good health, very conscious of my diet and I was very active. On September 2nd I had the feeling of nausea which continued thru Sept 4th. On Sept 5th I started to develop what I thought was a normal headache. As the day wore on the pain became much more intense and I developed an incredible throbbing pain in both temples (in the area above my ears still in the hair line but close to the front of my head). On the 6th I spent the entire day in bed with intense pain. On the 7th I went to the emergency room only to be sent home after they injected me with several pain killers. The following morning the pain was back and has not gone away since. I still have the pain in my temples though it is usually more intense on the left side. I also feel my heart beat in the vein and it never goes away. I have mild nausea, weakness and some times another strange feeling either in throat or stomach - I really can't identify were that feeling is or explain it very well, but I don't always have this feeling like the temple pain which is always there. Sometimes it is more intense and other times it is rather calm, but I can always feel it. I have been to the doctor several times. They have done and MRI and several other tests, and found nothing. They keep saying it seems like a Migraine. I can find no one else though that has experienced Migraine pain for two months straight. To date I have tried over 16 different prescriptions and nothing works, somethings actually made it feel worse while I was on them. I have been on everything from Vicodin to Beta blockers to anti depressants to anxiety pills (I have no history of being depressed or do I feel I have anxiety issues). They just assume you are depressed or maybe the pain isn't real, but the pain if very much real. I actually went to the emergency room a total of three times when the pain first began. Then back and forth to the family doctor. Then the neurologist who just wants to keep giving me more drugs to try. The neurologist has never ordered a single test. All testing was asked for by my family doctor who is telling me to work with the neurologist. Currently I am searching for a new doctor, the only problem is it will take another two weeks before I get into the new doctor - though I keep trying to find someone that can see me sooner. I don't know what to do. I am worried that it could be more serious than the doctors think. My current doctors are reluctant to do further testings.

You might want to try hormonal testing --- an imbalance might be causing the headaches and pain which can be treated via oral pills.

IF you still see no improvements, I suggest that you seek another doctor who specializes in migraines, instead of a general neurologist. You can find a headache specialist via the American Headache Society here: http://www.achenet.org/resources/physician / You are not alone!

Get an MRI stat
I don't wish to alarm you but you need to rule out a brain tumor or vasculitis.
I had the same kind of headaches for months before my Dr ordered an MRI with contrast. Turns out I had a turor which was removed 2 months ago at Moffitt. Insist on an MRI with contrast immediately. With & without contrast is important....
