About 9 or 10 months ago I experienced a pain in my right side about elbow level. I went to my doctor and she thought it may have been a bowel spasm and recommended that if it happened again to come see her. The pain did return so my doctor referred me to get an ultrasound. The ultrasound came back normal. I was told again to call the doctor if it happened again. The same pain came back again in the same spot a month later. This time I went to the ER. In the ER they did a CT scan where they found that my appendix was enlarged so they admitted me thinking it was my appendix. When the surgeon came in he disregarded my appendix and thought it may be my gall bladder. They performed a hide-a-scan and found that my ejection fraction was about 37% which I guess is slow but still normal. They released me from the hospital with a diagnoses of IBS and prescribed skelaxin. The medicine did not work the next time I had the pain at all. The only link that we found is that I always had the pain about 5 days before my period. My doctor changed my birth control to YAZ. After being on YAZ for a month I had the same pain in the same spot again. Then after 2 months of being on YAZ I didn't get the pain. I thought the YAZ was the solution until my period ended and I got the pain again. So my doctor referred me to the Ob/Gyn and she recommended that I stay on YAZ continuously for 3 months and not take the sugar pills just continue to my next pack. So in other words I will not have a period. I am frustrated now because I don't think that always changing my hormones is the answer. I feel confused as to what to do next.
