Q: pain in left side of chest after eating

My boyfriend has developed a major issue that has stumped his doctor. Any time he eats, he gets a stabbing pain in his upper left chest. Can last for an hour or more and doubles him over in pain. No other symptoms exist. No heartburn, gas, burping, shortness of breath, upset stomach. He had a CT scan, ekg, ultrasound. Ultrasound showed gallbladder polyp but no stones. Other tests were clear. His doctor said the pain from gallbladder should be on the right but his is on the left. Antacids and pain relievers have no effect. He is really suffering and no one seems able to help him.

We have cut out fats but no relief. His only other medical condition is diabetes. He is 34 and otherwise in good health although he is a little overweight.
