For approximately 2 weeks I have been experiencing a sharp pain in the back of my left hand. It is not constant, and seems to be triggered by the position of my hand. Sometimes it happens when I try to blow my nose, other times it happens when I try to grasp something, and when this occurs I lose all strength in that hand.

Could you have a pinched nerve? Arthritis..I have both so I automatically think this way..Certainly have your doc check this out..kd
